I am driving my 84 K-10 to moab in may and after talking with off road design I was told to get greaseable shackles, steering box brace, and sway bar disconnects. They also suggest I get some spare axles for the rear and maybe some spare fronts. Should I just buy new stronger axles or see what I can get used? I know I know I should get a 14 and 3/4 8 bolt hubs but for NOW I am going to leave it with front and rear 10s and someday maybe it will be get 3/4 stuff. I only run 33s and don't plan on a change cause its my daily driver. It is locked in the rear and front trutrac so it may be harder on axles. What do you guys think, besides I should get the 14.

Thanks
John

Make sure that your front u-joints are in good shape. Get some spare rear shafts and run it. No reason to worry about swapping axles with 33's.

Thank you, for your quick answer. Thats what I was hoping for, the front u-joints were just replaced.

I bought new superior axles to be on the safe side. Now I will have the factorys for spares. I also bought a steering brace, greasable shackles, and sway bar disconnects from off road design. Now to get some spare front axles and I should be set for moab. Some day it will get 3/4 ton stuff so it will take the work on the farm.

1 tons, 5.13s, detroits.

I am sure someday. I drive a 11 second big block full roller street car as the alternative daily driver to this truck. Some day it will be crazy for now it will be a short so I can use the bed on the farm. Besides in the mud drag class I am in I cannot run more than a 34" tire.

Good, I guess I think I will have more fun without having to worry about breaking every time I turn around. I will be cautious but would still like to be able to push it a bit.

I have 3/4 ton axles under my K5 and it only cost me $400 bucks installed. All i have to do now it get a Detriot and mabe some Chromlys.

BTW: this is also me DD

I understand it isn't that I don't want to get a 14 it is just when I built it I was stupid. I bought the good parts for the axles I had so I am going to keep them a while. If I did it over I would buy a 3/4 right away.
