New Battery Breaking in???

hey guys i got a new alternator and battery setup. 100a at idle output on the alt, and optima red top battery. im gonna go put it in, but is there anything you have to do to a new battery? they are just ready to go right?

Sometimes they are not fully charged, but it should still be ready to go.

I bought a red top optima from autozone that was almost completly drained. Charged it for a night and has run perfect ever scince.

I got my red top from AutoZone and it has been fine. They come charged and are supposed to hold the charge for over a year, I think it may even be over 2 years. I do know that if you drain the red tops they take 3 times longer to charge than regular batteries. I had to drive around for 3 hours to get mine charged enough to start.
