Is without a doubt the PSC hydraulic assist. PSC ported box, ram/hose kit, Derale 12" dual pass heat sink cooler and filled with redline power steering fluid. PSC pump and resivoir to follow. WOW what a HUGE difference in the way the truck drives...no more bump steering, death wobble or any other scary, sketchy, attention drawing, obnoxious and almost un-controlable steering weirdness. It got pretty irritating listening to 5 idiots a day at KOH telling me to tighten my BALL JOINTS when they were actually looking at bump steer....:eek1:

The Lucas Oil tent was literally right accross the pit road from the ORD crew...borrowed a hub nut socket from Stephen actually...

Anyways, I actually asked Stephen to come look at it...he did, and mentioned that after watching me drive by a few times, thought I just had cross-over steering bump steer going on. Suggested ATLEAST a steering stabilizer right away. I hadn't run one on the truck....ever..lol So I actually went over to the 4 Wheel Parts booth, among others, looking for a generic steering stabilzer kit to fit my truck. Anything to band-aid me through KOH... I was a remote pit truck, and kinda served as a mobile observation platform at the bottom of Chocolate Thunder during both days of qualifying...trying to hammer a 8k lb truck into one of these spots on the side of a sand dune with your front tires violently shaking back and forth enough to be alarming, is embarassing to say the least. I couldn't go more than 20-25mph across the lake bed or anywhere off road really. Made the 30 mile trip to the remote pit a looong one. Not to mention just cruising around the pits with such a high vis vehicle and so many people around...was embarassing as well. Never did find a stabilizer anywhere on the lake bed. 4 Wheel parts said they could have one there the next day though...lol

Anyways, through the owner/driver of the lucas oil car, Les Figeroua, I was able to get a GREAT deal on some PSC parts. He's a PSC dealer as well as owns a speed shop in Vegas. www.figspeed.com Check it out.

PSC stuff sat around for awhile before I got around to installing it, and wow...I should NOT have waited. Truck drives like a totally new vehicle now. I can now drive it waaay too fast for what it is....lol No bump steer, no death wobble, no wandering steering wheel, no avoiding certain bumpy sections of road, no more making small children stare in terror at the 8k lb earth quake on 39's rolling by in all its rattle trap glory....I would be totally confident putting my 86yo grandmother in the truck and letting her drive it solo cross country. There are certain low speed situations where I can tell that a new, hi performance pump would be just the ticket. But otherwise...this matched PSC system is leaps and bounds ahead of the "Hydro assist on the cheap" system on my old truggy. I am now a true believer in spending the extra money for purpose built and matched parts. And its only going to get better with the new pump...yeehaa!

I apologize if it seems like I'm waay over excited about this, but damn...I've NEVER been able to actually just relax and cruise the truck down the road without worrying about scary steering drama. It's sooooo nice! :woot:

That's a pretty cool story on how the rig is actually enjoyable now. :waytogo: Driving around in a rattle trap is never a fun thing.

Maybe you can make it all the way up to Oroville and help me set up mine when the time comes. :pimp:

Maybe I need to do that....

I fixed my frame, braced the box area, added a 1-ton stabilizer, and fixed my alignment.
I still have a bit of a shimmy.

I can't wait to be at that point where I am ready for steering. I'm in the the PSC setup.
