Nope, no new metal. You can get new metal parts from LMC, etc, but you'd pay an arm and a leg and be better off just buying a whole truck from the southwest or whatever.

You can also get fiberglass tubs from i.e. US Body Source. To the tune of like six grand. :eek1:

bro,
you could find a super condition cab/ tub out here in the west. I personally have chopped up two decent cabs because they are so hard to get rid of. You should be able to find a great deal from a private owner or even a junk yard. Just take a flight out here then rent a truck or set up shipping OTR and then fly back. Hell, I'll even help you out.

werd...

Yup--AZ is the place to shop for rust free body parts!..there is an "all chevy" junkyard a few towns away from me that specializes in old chevy's,both cars and trucks--they make frequent trips to AZ in a 6 car carrier truck, and buy up a lot of old truck cabs and beds--they sell them here for 1500 - 2000 bucks and UP!...:eek1: --rust free sheet metal is rare here, and is GOLD if you can find any..

I'm sure they pay much less for them in AZ..I was suprised when I went to that junkyard that they refuse to sell entire vehicles for the most part..I was stunned to see mint 72 El-Camino's with the floors chopped out,etc..kind of sickening in a way...:( ..I wish they did sell "Tiwan" cabs--they sell all the panels, why not a whole cab??..they do sell complete beds now,but I hear they aren't very good quality..

There's a place in Imlay City that sells fairly rust free K5' shells. I don't remember the name. Seemed like a decent place. I stopped by there a few years ago, He wanted $2500 for a K5 shell in good shape.
But nothing lasts here in MI.

You could always do what I did, go with a complete fiberglass body

I asked a friend of mine, he's got a photographic memory, guy remembers everything he sees.

Southern Truck. They have an ad in the Michigan Truck & RV most every week.

No website though.

They get most their stuff from down south or out west.

Yeeeeahhhh.........:D

BTW, the glass cab's are $7500 now from USBody.:yikes:
I paid $4000 for the cab in '99. Just over $5k, for the cab, front clip & front inners....

No they don't make those.
What would be the purpose of that? More head room or something?

Seems that could be accomplished pretty easily by cutting the rear face off and welding in a 2" wide piece of flat steel around the perimeter.

The idea is to convert a half-cab (76-91) Blazer into a pickup.

Me, I don't get it, but what do I know. I don't understand half-cab Blazers ... full convertible, baybee!

so if you hit a tree with a fiberglass body - does it crack, or flex in and bounce back out or what?

The south and southwest?

I'm still amazed by all of the rust belt fellas buying and fixing up old rust buckets. By the time you get most (not all, you never will) of the rust out of the truck, you could've bought a rust free or nearly rust free truck and had it shipped to you. But to each his own.

The south and southwest trucks are always dented, and involved in too many DUI's...:D

i want to use that to make my blazer a pickup cause the top is too damned heavy and i could still take that off and get the same effect as the whole top off. i would then have a truck bed, which i dont have to worry about the carpet getting really nasty with all the stuff i would put there. and i like it.

I've got a pretty good looking '84 body and frame. It wouldn't be of any interest to you would it?

steve

PS I'm keeping the rust free '87 I got from ryan22re, it was super solid.

how much?

i aint got a lot but how much FREE would be a blessing

thanks ps whats ur email??? I also would only need the body.

Mule- I've got 250 in the body, its got some other misc parts that will go with it as I dont wanna take the time to strip some stuff off it.
