sold the 72 parts and bought a 2000 chassis cab 3500 from my work for 800 dollars with a bad valve or somthing. so out comes the 350 and my propane 468 will finally have a home and the truck came with a 4l80e, so im keeping that. i cut 4 10 inches off the frame and move the hangers forward 49 inches and swapped the 14 bolt dually for a d70 hd single wheel. and now a d60 front is in and now i get to remove the doors, front clip and cut off the roof and the body behind the cab. and i have ordered up glassworks unlimited 07-08 silverado front bulged fenders and bulged rear bedsides with extra material in front of the bedsides to run to the back of the front fender and notch in door openings. then cage it and have a soft top and soft doors made. throw on my 42 inch iroks and a hood and that should about cover it.

i made some more progress today, i got the front clip off except the core support. took off the doors and cut the roof and back wall off. now i need to fab mounts for the fibergall panens and inner wlls and a rear floor. and it should start looking like a new blazer.

Are you planning to weld in a bed to make a complete Blazer-like tub?

I've thought of doing this with a wrecked shortbed...

Either that or actually building Craig Artzner's 1973 Tahoe that he created in Photoshop.

i am setting it up as a blazer tub, but i will just end up using the floor and mabey the innerwall. but yes it will not have a seperate bed, it will be a blazer like tube with opening doors.

The way I'd envisioned doing it was just using the existing bed and grafting it in, although I'd pictured myself doing a half-cab, not a full-convertible like you're doing.

Still, awesome project. Can't wait to see how this turns out. Will you be making a hard top for it?

no hard top for this, only a soft top with soft doors. i think it will be alot easier as a soft top with doors since im changing to the 08 body style. and wont have to create door openings and roof lines.

the gears in my head are smoking right now..

after seeing craigs chop, this idea has been slowly pushing my girl friend out of my dreams at night:D

well i picked up a set of new 56" springs from aaa spring and took out the overload. that left me with 8 leafs, so i may remove more. but with a big block i want to see how it is first. and ordered my front and rear hangers and shackle parts to fab up what i need.

Subscribed! Awesome build man! I have been kicking around the idea of a similar build for many years but never had the cajones to do it! I can't wait to see how it turns out! :waytogo:

well i got ahold of glassworks and my complete 08 body panels will be here next friday. and then mabey it will start coming together.

well it took way to long but atleast glassworks finaly got me my body parts, i will post more pics when i get my fake door section glassed to the bedside. these parts are not mounted, there just clamped on right now. i need to do a little trimming so they set in a bit closer. and do some major work and mount them, but you get the idea. and i moved the axle forward, since im running the standard blazer wheelbase now.
