I went to the new car show in Ft Worth yesterday because I wanted to check out sedan type cars because I need one for business purposes.
Out of all the cars there, Chevrolet by far had the worst to offer in a sedan...I have been so disappointed in what Chevrolet has been doing over the last 10 years, or more. Actually all of the American car makers have done a poor job in the sedan line for the last 20 years. Trucks and SUVs are all they concentrated on...and everyone wonder why foreign makers have been kicking their butts...not every car sold can be a truck or SUV...people still buy sedans too.
GM's other lines Cadillac and Buick had way better looking and appointed cars than Chevy. I could not believe I was even looking at Buicks! They have the Regal out again and I liked it...except that it said Buick on it.
I love the Cadillac CTS...this is what I was interested in even before I went to the show.
All the foreign car makers, even though most of them are actually made in the USA, had so much more to offer than Chevy.
Has everyone else been as disappointed as I have been with Chevrolet? I'm a lifelong Chevy guy, but they just aren't doing it for me anymore...

While it may be looks and appointments that disappointed you I am of the belief that the Malibu may just be the most underrated sedan Chevy ever made. My parents have had 3 now and I have owned one. Extremely dependable cars. My malibu had 285k on it when I sold it still got 29 mpg on the highway. Everything still worked, it was certainly showing its age though.

I although have never liked the Impala.

I think you will continue to see the Buicks appointed better than the Chevys too because of the brand identity, Chevy is positioned to be the great value brand. Offering decent options but at a lower price than a comparable Buick.

It just seems they could do a much better job on the styling and offerings in the cars. What is their thinking when all the other car makers styling looks so much better? I don't think the styling on the Impala or Malibu do those names any justice...they should have used different names instead of using the Impala and Malibu names.
The interiors just seem cheap and flimsy compared to other makes...even the Camaro and Corvette interiors seem that way.
I think Chevrolet needs some new blood in their design team...

Yes, I am not familiar with the recent reliability with Chevrolet sedans because I was turned off by that in the 80's and had to go foreign or Pontiac and Ford in the 90's.

super disgusted with my father's 97 and 06 1ton CCLB chevys. Both have interior lights, dash light, interior molding, switches, etc failing or falling apart. He is not hard on his trucks, not by any stretch of the imagination.

saw a 70's era ghetto cruiser pontiac convertable yesterday...thought briefly about going after him to see if wanted to sell it...:waytogo:

been thinking about a sedan for a while. my dd sierra is too harsh for the Missus fibromyalgia, she's in pain most all the time.:dunno:

I'd RUN from any Caddys --all the ones I've seen with the "Northstar" engines were JUNK!..what a pile of scrap iron (or aluminum!) those motors were...starter hidden UNDER the intake manifold!--I saw one at my friends shop he had to fix,the valley where the starter is was full of rats nest and nut shells!...he's had at least a dozen of those cars come in with junk engines--leaking,knocking,all kinds of check engine "ghosts"...why any one would want to transplant one of those into a hot rod I dont know--I'd much rather have the old 472 or 500 engine in one ,myself...

I have yet to see ANY "new" car built in the last 20 years that gets me excited or I'd want to own...give my my '69 GTO back,or the '66 Buick Wildcat ..car makers should resurect more classic bodies with todays "hi-tech" drivetrains and brakes,I bet they would sell like hotcakes--provided they dont want 50K for them...

I don't pay much attention at all.. just stuff i see running around town.. I've never bought a new car... I drive around in old POS's, hotrods or trucks.. heck, the newest vehicles I've EVER owned are my current 87 Nogo and K5..

but anyway... the malibu's are a damn good car from what i've seen, for what it is.... my dad has a newer one and seems very happy with it..

and umm, that 454 Impala SS that was out was "ok" imo.... not bad, like the idea, more of "i'm desperate to see ANYTHING cool out of ya" type things.. kinda like when the GNX's came out.. even the Vipers in the early 90's...

oh, one more thing.... the new Challengers kills it.. what a sweet job on that cars styling. great looking car... I'm biased, but they nailed it with that one...

Having a new, or newer car goes with my job because I take customers out from time to time.

I drove a Challenger a few months ago...the exterior styling is great, but the interior seemed kind of cheap

I seem to like the new impala and malibu. The new fords are decent also. And I guess the dodges have some decent things out.

They build with design, and market in mind, but dont ever seem to loose touch of their roots. Imo, its a different market than before. And what we used to like we don't like... unfortunately the majority of us aren't their main market.....

As far as plastic, and bad parts we can go on and on aboUt every car out there now isn't the time and I hate that conversation.

oh, one more thing.... the new Challengers kills it.. they almost nailed it with that one...

Fixed it for ya! If they had cut about 6" of sheet metal out of the door/fender height I would have to agree. Then with about 2" of lowering in the suspension it would rule. Someone please explain to me why the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger are taller than almost every sedan on the road? Oh and we don't need 19" wheels if you can't get a low COG.
