NEW CHEVY 572 BB! 620HP-600 Ft.Lbs. of monster torque!

I've already died and was reborn a new believer in this motor:

The picture of that 572 ci on the bottom of that one link is now my windows background. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Inspiration maybe!

If only the inventor of the internal combustion engine would've known.

Shouldn't be too long that someone builds a streetable motor that makes 1000 HP or ft. lbs. of torque. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It already exists Wes! You never saw the 454SS pickup that Banks put twin turbos on? The thing was making 1200HP and was "very streetable"! Forced induction is the way to go. Whipple makes a setup for the new 6.0L GM motor that makes 447HP and 548 ft. lbs. of torque! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif I see one of these in the near future for my HD.

....I'd be even happier with 1000 LB/Ft of torque at 1000RPM! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Go diesel. It looks like they will hit that figure before the gassers!

Have you driven the new D-max/Allison combo. What a whole new world compared to the 6.2/6.5/converted 5.7
Its apples to oranges (naturally aspirated vs. turbo), but still worth the ride.

Still not hitting the 1000 ft/lbs barrier and that is with 16:1 compression (I don't think Super Unleaded or even CAM2 are going to handle it /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif). It looks like diesel will be there with regular pump supplied FUEL. I was never a big fan of the D's but I'm beginning to see the benefits (only as technology has improved).

A few months ago Chevy HP or Hot Rod featured a 1000 hp engine a guy had built for his race boat that would run on pump gas. I dont remember what month but I think it may have been May or June.

OK guys, now lets get a little real now. I know we all want to own a Dragster but I'm talking about a K5. I grew up in the motor city so I know about them. I just thought a FACTORY built BB with that kind of power (If they don't put us in the poor house) would be something worth thinking about. The new BB sounds "do"able with the right set up.
So what do you think it would take to keep the axles under the truck with that kinda motor? I had a 70 SS Chevelle that had a bad habit of eatting TH 400's for lunch and pulling the shocks right out of the body but that was a street car.
What about a K5 on rocks...too much? or can it be done without 10K in the frame and supension. Any thoughts?
Add 572 motor.
Best tranny would be?
Manual or auto?
14B & 60 or Rockwells
Drive shafts & joints
Transfer case.
Serious suspension upgrades.
Box the frame.
and still get the flex.
What could you come up with for a reasonable cost to handle the job. No $5,000 axles. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
