Looking in the back of 4Wheel and Offroad, AA is working on a new crawler box that replaces the transmission to transfercase adapter on some stick applications. First one is going to be for a Toyota Land Cruiser. I spoke with one of the techs today and he said if it works out well and they think its strong enough they might make it for full size applications.

Also said they are shooting for under a grand on pricing. I would spend a grand for a box that gives 3.44 to 1 extra low range and the only thing you have to do it pull off your current adapter and install this. No driveshafts mods or anything.

Yeah, I'd say a grand for another low is a steal!...

I too saw this article... So much neat stuff comin' out...

Damn, at that price, this thing may sell. But for will only be available for manual trannies only?

I guess it would be hard to make a crawler box as thin as some of the auto tranny adaptors

Yea the one they are making is just under 5" so I would say it will be only for manuals.

I'm sure they could make it fit automatics, but it would require driveshaft mods since it would have to move the t-case back a few inches. That's certainly not an insurmountable problem!

It's a great day to be alive...

Do you know if anyone is going to do a review on it? Even if it was for a Yota I would be intrested in reading about it. Options are always good.

Lo-range crawler box + Warn (woods?) coil kit + Chevy D44 and 12B = Bolt on rock-crawler. Sounds like a plan to me!
