I've been thinking about getting a new (to me) DD. My current Dodge Ram 2002 has 146K on it and is slowly rotting away. I'm looking for something to get me to and from work, run around on weekends and handle snow season. I want to pay it off with the trade in or as close to that as possible. Based on that what vehicle would you recommend?

not quite the direction of a landcruiser or bronco but my dad has a subaru outback that's gone through all the snow colorado had to offer, 200k+ miles, decent mileage, and the most expensive repair he's had done is replacing the struts. friend of mine owns a shop and says they're the best kept secret on the road

Jeep Grand Cherokee from 1994-present. I'm 6-3,280+ pounds and I fit very comfortable in the Jeep Grand Cherokee's. We've had several of them and they are great in the snow and mild off-roading. Depending on the model you get, your MPG will be around 17-18 (6cyl), just normal running around to 24MPG on the HWY.

I can agree here as well. 6 years ago, I owned a 93 ZJ, 4.0, aw4, 4x4, great jeep. Paid $1k for it then. Had cloth interior, I pulled the swaybars, and on street tires, it was near unstoppable for something its size. Should have never gotten rid of it.

We have an envoy. It's been a great vehicle. The 4.2 has great power and reliability is outstanding on them. Rarely do we see them use oil. If interested in that platform, be a trailblazer, envoy, rainier, ascender, or 9-7x, they are all about the same.

One thing to look for is wiring issues, some have them, some don't. Like exterior lights all messed up.

Fuel mileage we generally see 15-17 in town, 19-23 highway.
