Installed my new Tom Woods drive shaft with a CV joint. Works great, no more vibrations. Have a 7 inch lift in the rear with 6 degree shims but still couldn't get rid of vibrations during acceleration and rattling when I let off the gas. Not cheap at 484 but it solved both issues.

I have a four inch lift and was considering a new drive shaft from TW. I also had some vibrations upon acceleration. I first had the orginal drive shaft lengthen and balanced, thinking that perhaps the lift was stressing it a little. That really didn't help. I ended up putting in some higher end u-joints which took about 70% of the vibs away. I still have some, but its not anywhere as bad as it was. I would still like to eliminate more of the vibrations. Maybe the next step is a CV joint approch

I did the CV joint route also. Eliminated all the minor vibrations I was having.

What gets me with these trucks is sometimes identical trucks with identical lifts will result in different outcomes. One will be smooth and the other suffers from vibration issues.

Yeah my last K5 had a 5.5 inch lift in rear and no issues and I test drove another that had a 6 inch lift and no vibrations on the stock shaft . Then I lifted this one and had major vibrations up to about 35-40.

mine only has a 2.5" lift, yet the PO thought it best to drop the TC. pfff

I'll shim it right thank you

But I look forward to a pair of nice driveshafts once my new lift goes on. Might do TW, HAD, or local Driveshaft Specialties. The local place is only 6 miles from me :)

What is the operating angle of the pinion side u-joint? (i.e. the difference between the angle of the pinion yoke and the driveshaft).

What transfer case is in your truck?

Not sure of the operating angle. Stock transfer case.
