New engine break in tip

After a recent engine blowup I had the oil anilysed. It was Kendell that I've used for over 20 yrs. They said that the anti wear additives such as calcium and magnesium (IIRC) had a count of 300 where as they would've expected a count of around 4000!
I looked into this and found that as the addatives ultimately come out of the tail pipe, oil produced by America or marketed in America has these additives virtually removed to meet new emmisions standards.
I don't use Kendell anymore!

Hi Mark!

can you post up or pm me all of the numbers from that oil analysis? I'd love to see them..

Since you guys have tightening emissions standards too, aren't your "homegrown " oils subject to the same regulations?

I'll see if I've still got it.
The lead and copper readings were horrific!:doah:
Our emmisions are tightening up but at the moment they've left the oil alone...or so they say!

Yep, that was my ends and mains!
I think there was more bearing meterial in the oil than on the shells:rolleyes:
But that wasn't the oils fault, the analysis happened to show that up.
