New engine

Right, That's the high idle clutch or whatever it's called. That stopper thing in the circled picture.
This is the regular idle adjuster after it's warmed up ...

Those are the ones I have. I had to cut them for my blazer and they look like shit now, all frayed. I will add, they do work. They just do not look good all cut up.

I guess I was just talking generically. They might make buffer ones.

****... wtf is going on with this engine. Now I see coolant seeping up from the intake manifold. I followed edlebrock torque sequence when putting this damn thing on..

Should I pull the bolts and add sealant? I know I didn't when first doing this.

This is getting ridiculous and tiresome.
Im out of patience.

F-me.... only this side smokes... didn't the first time i started it today but just did, idled weird the but that could be from playing the Carb blades. Most likely from coolant being burnt. I was too irritated to check the tale pipes being busy filming all the smoke coming from passenger side exhaust manifold

I bet all that smoke is coolant.

Those are good gaskets

Was the surface 100% clean?

I hope you didn't use the end gaskets. I can't believe it wasn't mentioned when you were sealing the intake. Only use rtv black, or right stuff on the ends.
For now re torque the intake per Edelbrock, and see if leak stops.
If the electric choke doesn't close by itself cold and key hasn't been on for an hour plus.
You can turn the choke cover to adjust choke valve closing. Then you need to set the choke idle set screw on the 2nd step of the choke idle cam. Should be 3 steps high middle and normal running.

Might be time to step away and have an adult beverage, come back to it another day.

I know I'm about to call it, spent the last 1/2 hour looking for my container of hose clamps, ugh.

Garage has been rearranged 3x in the last month or so I can't find anything.l

The longer it ran the more smoke it produced. No smoke from tail pipes, only not at exhaust.

I did paint the ram horn but they have 120ish miles on them. However, the old plug wires weren't really connecting properly, so I'm thinking they never got got enough. Now they are

Looks like dirty finger print grease burning off to me, it should stop soon
Yeah, but why now? I think the plug wires hat were on there initially weren't making good contact, if fact I know they weren't. Possibly they weren't firing properly and not enough heat was being generated?

I don't know, just speculating, why smoke now after all has been as is for 120ish miles... no smoke before and now only smoke after I put new plug wires on that fit properly

Wires hitting a heat source??
