I'm trying to install a new fuel tank in my '86 k5 but it doesn't fit (25 gal is too small). I guess I need a 31 gallon. but all the parts catalogs say that it needs a 25. Any suggestions?
yep there is 25 and 31. need straps and sender for 25 or 31. thay are longer straps and deeper sender for the 31 as to the 25. thay were telling you wrong as to 25 only. if you have the old tank next to the new one same square size but deeper/taller tank for the 31.
Yes the 25 gallon will work as long as you have the correct straps and sending unit. If your original post is saying that a 25 gal is too small them upgrade to a 31 gallon. This will require new straps for the 31 gal as well as a sending unit for same tank.
yeah I get what youre saying. My mechanic is telling me that the part that goes into the tank is what doesnt fit, its to short. I dont think hes talking about the sending unit.
He's probably talking about the pickup tube. Problem is if the tube is too short then the tank is bigger (deeper) than previous which makes no sense. Or is the tank to short (not deep enough)?
