My old cheapy air grease gun finally gave up the ghost.

And, I was kinda sick of changing the 14oz tubes. Mabey it was just my crap gun, but it was always a giant mess and always a pita to get re-primed. I'd end up wasting 1/4 of the tube.

So, I bought this 35lb (~ 5 gallons, actually less than that) Amsoil Synthetic EP multi-purpose grease, and a grease pump and a new better quality continuous flow air grease gun.
Gun is a continuous, variable speed trigger flow gun with 30" hose. Very nice gun.
Pump is steel top, steel follower, steel pump.

I've been using it for a couple weeks now, and I love this setup. No more messy tubes, just stick the gun filler nipple on the pump nipple and give a few pumps, no priming issues, even from new, I packed the head, screwed it on, filled it up from the pump and it required 0 priming BS. I usually just give a couple of filler pumps after several uses, so it should never lose prime.

So far, I'm loving this.

I haven't had to buy grease lately,I had a case of tubes I scored at a flea market a long time ago for 5 bucks, the seller said one tube leaked and ruined some other stuff he was selling..

I was surprised to see now you cant find any grease tubes for under 4-5 bucks for the cheap crap,it used to be a buck to 2.50 a tube!..just like motor oil ,I guess prices have tripled the past few years..

I'd be much more likely to grease things more if the grease gun and hoses weren't such a pain in the butt..grease is cheaper than parts are still, but not by much!..my 2 new drag link ends were 9.95 and 13.95!..

The only problem I've found using air greaser is the lack of feel you have. The hand operated guns you kinda feel when you need to stop pumping. The air ones I tend to blow out the seals more often.
Manual guns a pain to load, but over the years I've gotten pretty good at loading them...Chamfer and lube the cardboard end so the plunger doesn't hang up. Always have the handle up when screwing the cartridge in, then release the plunger, bleed the air out before pumping the lever.....Seems to work for me.

I have a DeWalt cordless one. All my other cordless stuff is DeWalt, so it uses the same batteries. Pretty handy.

Though I find myself still using my old pistol grip pump just as often.
