Hi, John P. checking in from 'The ATL'. Long way from CO....
Anyway, I Just bought a 1971 K5 & know very little about these great vehicles, but want to scale that learning curve.

Anyway, this vehicle is the following condition:
1) It has a solid body, but needs to be finished (some minor rust repair, filler/sanding & full paint work). All Glass is good. MIght need to get some trim.

2) Top is Good, but the rear hatch has a crack in the fiberglas @ the Rt Side Hinge

3) Interior is basically non-Existant except for the Dash, which is good (& seems to have a rare tachometer in the cluster). As such, I need to equip it w/ some seats, ditch the mini-doofus steering wheel & whatever else (floor covering?) was inside.

4) Suspension looks very solid & seems to be tight w/ no play.

5) Previous Owner says that I need to get new Driveshafts b/c the ones on there now were not done by a professional shop - I guess they're not balanced? Hopefully that didn't cause any damage to the drivetrain....

6) Engine looks OK, but did not have a starter, so I didn't hear it run. Hopefully it runs as well as described, but for the price I ain't expecting much. Same w/ the Transmission (3-on-tree) - btw, a small amount of fluid leakage (a couple of tablespoon-fulls over the course of a year) has dripped out.

7) BRakes - Allegedly good. They look OK, but won't know until I try to stop, right?

8) ELEC - nothing looks hacked.

Overall, this truck looks like it was fairly well kept & not run in the mud.

So fellas....can ya'll point me in some directions? I thank you in advance for all of the expertise to come.

Best Regards,
John P.

Post some pics.

I know, that is not the least bit helpful........

Why does it not have a starter? That seems a bit fishy.

ATL is nothing, we have members from Norway and the Middle East just to name a few.
For the back hatch you'll need to repair it since an aftermarket one doesn't exist. I saw a video of a guy repairing his, think it was on YouTube.
And yes, we love looking at pics. :thumb:

I can walk ya thru any fiberglass repairs...

Not working for me either. Hopefully the starter issue isn't similar to my 71 GMC.

"unable to preview picture"

photobucket yo! :D

and if the tailgate is in good shape, I'll take it. (just calling dibs now if this gets parted out years from now) lol

I'm about 60 miles east of Atlanta if you ever need anything. This is a great site and has tons of info and folks to help out. Good luck on the resto and post some pics!

Thanks. It's good to know some 'neighbors'. If you hear of anything going on in ourt area, just let me know.

ANd As for the photos - I'll try again.

I dunno why they don't come up. I really don't like computers. Grrrrrrr.....

go host em on http://photobucket.com/ it's free and what EVERYONE uses....

once they are in there, go to the image, right click on it, click on properties.. than copy the addy....

than in your reply box here, you'll see a little pic icon at the top, with a mountain in it, click that, paste the addy in there... done..

That works. Just as a FYI, a good way to check to see if pics/links are working is to use the 'preview post' feature or after you post log out and view your post.

Nice looking Blazer you got there. Love first gens. :waytogo:
