I have read alot on this forum over the past year but i'm in no way a mechanic, I do understand whats going on under the hood and can get things fixed up enough to make it to the shop... that being said

I have a 91 k5 all stock cept for 33 12.50s...they fit fine and I like the way it stands so no lift !

I'm not a hard core mudder or climber but i just need to go down some rough trails to hunt and find my cattle sometimes. It needs to behave on the road, be as smooth as possible.

WHat upgrades are there that would better my vehicle for everyday use?

My gearing is 3.08 so i'm guessing going to 4.10 would give me better power and mpg.
I found oil on 2 of my spark plugs today:crazy:, what does this mean?
It sounds like it chokes out when i just barely hold the throttle down, idles fine and runs fine except for that very low slightly raised rpm range. CHanged plugs, wire, cap, rotor, new fuel filter and pump. what should i look for.

I love my rig and plan on keeping it for a very very long time. They just don't make'em like this anymore!

i know its alot of questions but I need a hand

Need more info on what the truck is doing, Does it smoke at start up? Smoke all the time? color of smoke if any? smoke under acceleration? oil on the plugs is probably some bad valve guides though.

The gears will def help out the truck for what you use if for. If you are just looking for everyday use I would look into things that improve the rigs capability and performance with out having adverse affect on other parts. Such as headers, free flowing exhaust, electric fans, and even an air intake. These kind of things add to but don't take away except from the wallet.

is there any benefit in new leaf springs or shocks... i imagine they are all original?

So i will be regearing(finding new rear axle probably), headers, cat, maybe an intake.

what will an electric fan do for me?

There isn't much smoke at all. And i don't notice anymore at any particular time.

The fan frees up horse power by causing less "drag" on the engine instead of having the engine spin the fan. Keep a eye on those two plugs that had oil on them. Your ride would be smoother and wont sag as much under load with some fresh springs and shocks.

I woudln't spend money on fresh springs, especially for a 91. How many miles on it?

Shocks would help it ride a lot better though, if yours are old.

True unless the truck had been used alot for hauling or towing. I kept forgetting the year of the OPS truck. To the OP just check your spring packs and make sure that none of the leaves are broken and you should be good there.
