I am installing a new head unit. Where should the head unit's positive power cable connect to? Fuse block, junction block on the fire wall or straight to the battery? Negative cable should be grounded short as possible right? Accesory cable goes to the fuse block... right?

Everything else is easy.

Not sure on the power. I would guess off the fuse block from a keyed power. Otherwise you will always have to remember to turn it off or drain the battery. The ground is easy - go to the steering column. One of the best places to ground anything is on the bolts that hold the column up or the bolt on the bottom side of the column just above the line the lower dash starts to cover it.

Why not get a wire harness for your truck from crutchfield? Don't butcher the wiring if you can help it. If you buy it from them their tech support is there so you do it right the first time. Good luck!
