tbi is not really that much better than a carb you will spend around 250 300 for a chip plus what ever you have to pay for a good tbi setup, plus new injectors, ill stick with the carb

Carb's suck plain and simple. Unless you've run both off-road you have no clue exactly how much better TBI really is. Plenty of us here have had more than enough first hand expereince with how 'great' carb's are off road. Same with altitude gains...TBI will adjust for altitude automatically so it's never running rich or lean. As for cost, TBI has been around long enough that you shouldn't have any trouble finding a complete set-up for little more than the cost of a new carb.

if your going to go fuel injection go with a holley kit, or edelbrock mpi

Holley doesn't have the best rep out there for their FI stuff. Much more problematic than any stock FI. The Edlebrock MPFI is a nice set-up...but it's also $2K.

Factory TBI repair parts can be found at any parts stores...even the ones in the middle of no where Montana. Try that with edelbrock or holley.

junkyards are the perfect place to pick up a complete tbi system for dirt cheap. i havent swapped in my tbi yet, waiting on a few parts, but everyday i look at the tbi and wish it was in. last weeked i went out for some fun in the hills and flooded out at least three different times. tell me you carb guys, how fun is it to come down a steep hill backwards with no power steering or power brakes.

what is needed to do the tbi i mean i have the whole 92 silverado siting in my yard but this carb setup is running much better than when it was in the 92 tbi, this is not going to be driven very often, i plan on getting the holley truckavenger, edelbrock avs offroad, or the barrygrant trucker carb. this setup i am running now revs up twice as fast as the tbi did, but i have added headers, performer intake, the holley 600dp with the spring loaded needles and seats, summit performance hei upgrade, e3 spark plugs, and decided to leave the stock cam in.

That ain't no fun at all...in fact that's one thing that used to take the fun right out of wheeling for me. I ended up swapping to a 6.2 diesel to get the FI I wanted and wheeling is so much more fun now.

This is TEH SUCK. Also sucks trying to get up a creekbed, or anything else that is angled, and stalling out the damn truck (automatic). My TBI will be on before the winter is over.
