I just traded my ZJ for a 1984 CUCV k5 Blazer, it has the 14 bolt rearend and a 10 bolt front, 38.5's boggers in the front and 40x17's in the rear, they are different sizes because of the gears that are in them i dont now why but thats what the guy did what i am trying to find out is what exactly the two pieces are in the front of my grille they are both by the headlights i will try to get pics of them up soon but one i know if for the blackout on the drivers side but the otherone i cant seem to find any info on it??? I am new here so try not to give me too much hazing i know a little bit about chevys i had a scottsdale when i was younger but i have worked on jeeps since then!! So any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks Beau

Not what you asked but I have been wanting to do the same since I saw Quagmire in FOURWHEELER, the guy put big tires in the back and smaller in the front and then matched the gears so 4x4 was good.
It looked nice with that slight rake forward look without it actually being raked.

Just stop saying the j-word and learn to use this button ...... on your keyboard, and you'll fit right in. No one here usually gets much hazing as long as you're not too cocky. Plus you did the right thing and antied(sp?) up for the membership which is like a key to all the help you'll ever need. As for the mystery items how about some pics. As for the gearing, I've heard of that before, but in most threads I've seen it's frowned on for some reason.

j/k

As your searching post up any questions and they'll get answered. Just be specific and keep it to one topic per thread and you should get very helpful replies.

Well there's an ongoing debate about the asthetics of different sized front and rear tires... looks great on a 70's Camaro, not so much on a 4x4 IMHO.

But the very real drawback is spare tire... to really do it right you've got to carry two spares.

You should also verify that the gearing really is different. I bought an old 4x4 when I was in high school with different sized tires and the guy told me the same thing... turns out the axles were the same gears...he'd just gotten a good deal on some slightly smaller tires when he needed new fronts.

Another question i know my fenders and quarters are cut to fit the big tires but i also noticed that the block in the rear is HUGE what size blocks do they make them up to???
I know the front dosent have near the same size that the rear does, and wouldnt it make since to get a matching set of blocks for the front or would that mess up anything witht he different gears and tires on it!!! Plus what is the importance of having a lifted steering arm on this, could i get away with just the stock arm or what

here are the pics not the best ones but i will get some new ones up by the weekend

And right now i am in the process of doing a rattle can paint job on it of od green !!!!

blocks in the front is a no no. If they pop out during a hard turn your screwed. Taller spring perches welded to the axle are still shady but a way better option than blocks in the front.

Yeah i am pretty skeptical about them, i hate these spacers and whatnot i would rather get the leaf springs and do it right i just have to find a good deal on some for right now, my dad broke his neck on a riding mower and now i am helping my mom and my family with bills and whatnot so now the blazer comes last! But we all have to do what we got to do right!!! And thanks for the advice on the front end!

sorry bout the old man. Gotta do the right thing. If you look around these forums enough you can find springs, shackle flips etc.. for dirt cheap. Some people just have stuff holdin down the garage floor. Hell, I unloaded some 4" front Ranchos to Curran for $100.

Good luck
