Picked up a Rockford Pocket Power/Jump Starter kit yesterday from my parts guy. $120 out the door (snap on guy was selling for $160). It claims it can jump a vehicle 20  times with a full charge among other things like power a laptop for 3 hours and charge you cell phone from 0-100% in an hour. LED flashlight with strobe and SOS settings. The parts guy personally witnessed it jump 6 cars and then power a laptop for a long while. We shall see but if it is half as good as it claims it'll be worth it.

Size comparison. The wife's iPhone 4s. Performance review to follow, got a dead K5 out back that needs a jump.

I have one of a different brand. Haven't jumped a full sized but it started a dead jeep.

Mine has multiple phone chargers with it and I've used it a lot for charging devices.

My Mac dealer just showed us this last week. I'm not so sure about using it for jump starting a vehicle but it sure would/could come in handy for anyone who does alot of camping/hiking and likes to take lots of pics with their cell phone and would have the need to charge the cell battery for continued use. I think he wanted $147 for their version.

I have 2 of those little jumper packs and they work extremely well. One pack will start a completely dead big block pickup no problem, two packs will jump a completely dead diesel pickup as long as the glow plugs don't run for too long. They don't have lot of reserve capacity, but they will run a laptop for over an hour.

Don't leave the pack connected to a car after it has started as that can overcharge and ruin the battery.

Awesome!! I read in no less than about 50 places to "diconnect within 30 seconds of starting vehicle". Gonna try and jump the K5 this evening just to let it turn for a bit. Has a nasty exhaust leak but I need to hear it just for the inspiration.

The amount that adds track what i read is getting crazy.

This just popped up on FB.

Wonder how they compare to the name brand ones.

Would be badass to have for emergencies, but wonder what the "shelf life" of a charge is.

Well the user manual for mine states something like 6-12 months on a charge with no use but recommends you recharge it every 3-6 months. Also it gave a life span of 1000 recharges.

Anyone know if you can charge the battery while in the car through the aux 12.
Volt plug? This would be the cats meow if you can.

I'm at work on my phone I'll check tonight when home.

I'm gonna confess....when I glanced at the title, I thought it said "new bumper jack" and I thought:

"why would anyone get so excited about a bumper jack?":dunno: :haha:

If anyone remembers the old "bumper jacks"...? I remember nearly being killed by one several times. You get the car jacked up and they would just kinda lean over and fall.

They're kinda like a "high lift" jack........just a LOT flimsier and more dangerous!

i have 1 for about a month now. must of jumped started 6 cars so far, works great. i,m afraid of the cold weather performance, but we will see how it works next winter. paid 130$. oh and i charged a customers cell phone too.

I can plug mine into the car 12v and charge it. And have a phone charging off of it at the same time, while bombing around in the dunes :D
