Looks like the LoMax will be available again for a short production run this Dec 2012:

I used to want a LoMax, but now I think the OffRoadDesign Magnum box would be a better choice due to the gearing options you get, and only at slightly more cost.

My burb has one of the Lomax cases its kinda cool. but I think a doubler set up or 3-4 speed case would be better.

Wish I could get my hands on one of them, but thats kinda high priced for me. I dont really need the doubler for what I do, but 3.1 would be heaven for what I need.

241/lomax 205

But yeah 3-1 is kinda meh

IMO that setup is WAY too low in low-low, and with both ranges being almost identical, you basically lose the 4 speed aspect and you're back to a 2 or 3 speed (depending on how picky you are).

The Lomax 3:1 gears are the answer for guys that need the superior strength, deeper t-case gearing and need the absolute shortest combo possible.

And really its not the short combo I am looking for, as my Suburban has the wheelbase of a battleship, its simply not all of us need a doubler. I even have all the parts minus the ORD doubler plate to do mine, I just dont need the added maintenance of the extra range box, the added time and money to fab another crossmemeber, buying another shifter to add to my twin stick, remaking driveshafts. In the long run, its a decently priced way of adding low without redoing most of your drivetrain. I am all for it, I just wouldnt mind a little bump in my low, as here in the great American flatlands, we dont have rocks, or many hills for that matter. :haha:
