SO I'm a new member to the forum and just wanted to intoduce myself and ask a question.
I've recently just picked up a 1991 bone stock k5, in pretty good condition. I've already begun working on this thing little by little my mods so far include
a rough country 4"
Dual exhuast
lots of other small things, tuning up(ran like crap when I first got it, now its a champ!), and cleaning up.
right now I've still got my little 31's on there so I havent taken any new pics after the lift but here's a preview:

I just sold this truck, I'm a member on fullsizechevy. I hated that p.o.s ifs front end, I love solid axles!

This is gonna be my DD/ weekend warrior, lol so I'm planning on beefing up the front end, I'm was planning on running the rockstomper tie rod, looked really stout, but apparently they no longer make it.. so where can I get a similar tie rod?

Out-of-focus pics don't count...

Man, RUN while you still can. Save yourself, its too late for the rest of us.
This place will cause you to spend all your money, write really bad jokes, and stay up at all hours.

They sucked me in 2 years ago, I still cannot get away, and I don't even own anything with GM on it. Never owned a K5 in my life.

But, if you are determined, then just go ahead and pay the membership fee, and, like they say, Lie Back and Enjoy It........:D

Congrats and welcome.

With the 4" lift did you'

1) drop the Tcase or lengthen drive shafts

2) get longer brake lines

3) Get dropped pitman arm for proper steering geometry.

Also some ideas:

1) Run differental , tranny and Tcase vent lines up high somewhere

2) Check the frame by the steering box for cracks and get the ORD steering brace kit regardless if there is no cracks

3) Look into the XJ steering shaft mod, its cheap and easy and will tighten up the steering from the old chevy rag joints.

This should get you started for now. :haha:

#1 avoid my build at all costs.....

#2 steering box brace, both brackets

#3 cooler for the 700r4

#4 fire extiguisher - to put out your credit card after we get done with ya! :doah::haha:

ORD and DIY4X are your friends...

i will only say this part looking at your first pic..

if someone gave me a truck.. even with 10 bolt axles and a underpowered tired motor... first upgrade i would do... would be lockers.... of course 10 bolts are good if you are running lil tires.... but lockers...

i cant tell you how many times i see trucks in mud, as it seems you like, that just dont go that extra cuz only one tire is pulling up front and the other is like a dead weight...

so once those guys are done with helping you spend your money...
ill help ya on some too... :woot:

i definitely agree... steering brace by ORD (offroaddesign) and also their cross over steering... made such a difference on my truck.. i can now turn pretty good too!!!!!!

wheel what ya got... look at what you want to do...

i have seen on here, and the person will probably know who they are, but not massive flex.. they got their blazer practically on its side in a gulley with some flex.. nothing massive but he is still going.....

so dont get into the i need super flex, super HP, supper axles, etc....
unless you want to be broke like us!!!!!!!!!!!!
:haha:

heres some pics after lift and now 35x12.5 toyos..

lol the neighbor's blazer looks tiny!! and I really gotta bend that tow hook back in..

ORD Brace
random maintenance
trim fenders
rear springs up front
crossover
1 tons
56s or 64s out back
sliders
...
just a prediction :D

it gets out of control
That's a nice clean truck, more power to ya if you can behave and leave it nice. I just started with an ugly, rusted out, headed to the junkyard pile. Last night when I stopped a roll with my passenger door against a boulder, I just said "oops" :).

Dude keep that K5 away from this website! :haha:

Seriously though if you have ANY plans to wheel it hard find something with some wear and tear on it. Look at the thread a few below this one in the garage called Purple k5 resurection, or go to the build threads and look at the first and last pages only. You'll see what I mean

Just sayin from a guy that used to own a flawless 89.

Welcome and nice Blazer!

nice lookin truck....what gears do you have in there now and how's the gas mileage? did you do anything to the TB, ignition or chip?

Nice clean blazer! Don`t Fock it up by talking to the guys on this site! Owell your truck have fun... looks good man!!
