Lurked here for some time on and off. I thought I'd join a make a post and see how it goes.

Got my K5 from a Corps of Engineers auction in Arkansas when I was sixteen. Now my 17yr old is driving it.

Truck has been very good to me for a very long time. Lots of memories.

See a lot of the M1009/CUCV/camo/govt K5's but haven't ever seen another like mine. What others are out there?

Current projects are soft top and determining what to do about the seat(s), driver in particular.

Appreciate all those who post useful info here.

I used to love seeing that color, all the old forest service trucks were that green.
I swapped 99-07 Silverado seats in my old k5. They were comfortable, the passenger slid and flipped forward enough to get into the back easy and having a jump seat/ console was really nice.

You’re gonna love the soft top, my favorite non mechanical mod.. depending on your intended use I would consider some kind of roll bar if you have people riding in the back, I found a front roll bar for a K5, and then added a rear hoop that was said to have been out of an unknown year FJ. They were the same width, so made the back foot plates bigger, welded the bars together and plated them. Certainly not a bomber setup but better nothing since I’m not planning to ever take the soft top off

If you plan on staying with the soft top you can ditch some weight by getting rid of the blazer tailgate and installing a truck tailgate, you just need the associated hinges and latches from the truck as the mounting holes are already there. My personal preference would be to ditch the old man steps too lol
