hey i just joined the site, i bought a 77 chevy scottsdale k20 with a 454 last week and my buddy told me to join this site so i thought id say whats up and ask a couple questions.

what transmission would this 77 have?
and will a D60 off of an 80 something ford powerstroke work on my 77?

I would venture to guess a 400 tranny? is it auto or stick? and a ford dana 60 will not work, it is drivers side drop, chevy is pass side drop. a dodge d60 will work.

you wanna talk about random sh!t you should check out the lounge. we could always use new noobs. just don't piss anyone off and all will be well ;)

without modification it won't work..

but you can run a dodge one, but the spring perches need to be re-welded a ltitle wider...

you could run a ford 60 under two conditions, im next to positive any ford new process caes that is the same model (chevy 208 to ford 208) should be interchangable but dno't count on that

i've also heard of over clocking the tcase where you disconnect it and basically rebolt it upside down, (fill plug is drain and drain is fill) both i have only read about, never tried, seen pictures, nothing, so wait for a chevy one..or take the ford 60, paint it, sell it, buy a chevy

dodge 60s you only need to cut off a 1/4 inch or so from the outside of the bushing and put that on the inside effectively spreading your springs that needed 1/2 inch. you could get a chevy 241 or something from an IFS truck and run that furd 60 since its free and all, it might be the second cheapest route.

thanks for all the replies. i probably wont be starting on it till spring because we have to finish my buddies truck. maybe you seen the pics on here. its the 440 dodge with the 77 chevy body.

welcome aboard man, your in for some good learn'n here, lots to read.
