i just put a new motor in my 87 and i am wondering about the trans
i nolonger have the TBI and now run a carb
is the trans still going to shift correctly and the converter going to lock up
if i knew how to upload pic i would up load them

No it will not lock up, shifting will work fine.

Lockup will need a conversion to either the earlier vacuum setup (1982-1986 IIRC), or aftermarket, or toggle switch. Personally this is the same as a fan toggle switch IMO, unless needed for something specific, best to let the automatic run automatic.

Sorry, can't help with how to wire a toggle up. Probably 10 different ways of doing it, depends on how you want it.

If not here, should be all sorts of results on google. IIRC, you can also put a check ball in the snout of the TCC solenoid(?) to force lockup "automatically", but I'd research that before assuming I remember right. :)

You can put a ball in the lock up sol for automatic lockup, but with out changing springs in the valve body, it will lock up way to early.

It will lockup in second gear and you will hate it if you go the checkball route. You will need to use the D wire at the case connector as a ground,(you can ground it at a pan bolt), and then you can run 12 volts from your toggle switch to the A terminal on the case connector. Check your brake switch, there should be voltage coming in and out of this that goes to the A terminal.
