Originally, truck was 350/700/241/10B w/ 3.42s on 33" tires.
Now, truck is 350/700/241/14B w/ 5.13s on 38" tires.
The gears are brand spankin new - they now have about 4 miles on them. They've got 6 thousandths of backlash.
Noise #1: When the slowing down with the transmission selector in Overdrive, the down shift to first gear make a louder noise. I haven't done anything to the transmission except add a tranny cooler (months ago), and I know the TV cable is operating properly, and the fluid is full. The gears I got are USA Standard gear, which are supposed to be noisier, but I **assume** that means at speed. The noise seems to come from the rear, so I'm wondering if it's just louder gears. Perhaps the lower gearing provides more force to be pushed against in a down shift, causing the louder "slap." ??? Ideas on this one?
Noise #2: When turning the steering wheel and not moving, I'm hearing some popping, kind of like the sound of sheet metal changing shape a bit when you're flexing out your suspension as the body twists. I now have a Dana 60 with crossover. I have a frame brace. Frame isn't cracked. I'm suspicious that it might be just the new grippy Swamper tires on the ground, but haven't had the opportunity to have my wife turn the wheel while I listen. Sound seems to come more from the passenger side, but I don't think it's specific to that side. Ideas?
Thanks!
