New oem replacement headlight knob/shaft

How does one go about removing the old knob and shaft assembly from the switch? It appears that the new one just pushes in. Is the a hole or something at the back of the switch to release the old one?

There is a button on the bottom of the switch, press it in and remove the stalk and knob together.

Mine is on the side, but yes what he said. Has a little spring under the button.
