[font=Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif]I thought Christmas was over, but I got another present today! Just received a new 6.2L dual-idler gear drive set for my truck. Now I can't wait to get it installed!

I got a good deal on it too...found a DP member in the classifieds who had a brand new set he never used...he sold the truck before he had a chance to install it. I saved quite a bit of money!

You know you've got diesel fever when you get all giddy over something like a set of gears!

I'd be giddy too! Cool thing for me is that those are Canadian so if and when I get mine I won't have to deal with brokerage fees and customs BS.

Take some pic's of the install (please!) I'm probably not the only one interested...

yeah I plan on upgrading to a gear timing set in about 2 yrs or so gotta upgrade in steps

dead on timing for the life of the engine! unlike a chain it doesn't flex, but it costs around 460 bucks from what I've seen:(

The best price I've found for the gear drive is from www.kennedydiesel.com

John's selling the kit for $275 USD. The list price from the manufacturer is $326 USD.

But I got lucky and got mine for only $210 including the shipping! :D

The gear drive does give you more accurate timing, easier starting, smoother idling, plus it has a built-in timing and cam advance for a bit more power. All of the reports I've read from actual users state they had better starting, more power, and even better fuel mileage. I hope to soon find out. Maybe by next weekend I can jump in and get it installed.
