New pic of Hummer beadlocks and 40\'s

1720rim1.gif

We just finished these up and got them mounted. We used copius amounts of grease around the beads (as seen in pic) to ensure the tires center on the rim when they are ran down with the impact.

Centers are from John at Stazworks.

Thanks!1 And yeah I know I am missing a nut for the ring. Kyle (3 yo) was playing with them last night, and I didnt get accountability before I took off to mount them. Also, The lug nut missing (1 on each whell) is for my wheel locks. Theft has been crazy around here lately.

They centered up great using the grease. When I had 44's on my old set, I could never get them to center. There is a little molding ridge around the tire where the rim sits and it was really noticable it was not even. we tried soapy water at first, but the grease was tons better. except of course for the mess!

Here is a better pic of the side (kinda ovecast today), and a close up of the welds. Each rim has 8 10" welds. I took us a LOONG time to weld them in. We prolly overkilled the welding. Those beads are pretty big. There was so much welding, we all rotated welding them.

As far as cost goes....

Rims---25 each from a guy down the road. 100.00
Runflats-100 plus 17 shipping 117.00
Centers 55 ea plus 25 shipping 245.00
Have local metal place cutout old centers 55.00
4 orings and 24 nuts from usa6x6 (I know) 42.00
Paint 15.00

About 574.00 and that is with us doing almost ALL of the work. I dont know what it would cost to have some one weld those centers in, but at LEAST a couple hours labor (giant PIA).

Re: New pic of Hummer beadlocks and 40\'s

I think mine ended up costing a little differnt, but the money was spent in a different place:

(All in Canadian funds)
Rims: 180ea, bought 3, traded 3/4T outers for one, they're expensive by the time they get up here.
Centers, $30 in matereal, did them on a CNC plasma and indexed the holes myself. $120 total.
cutting old centers out...Free used the plasma cutter.
Welding them in...Free.
+ Paint...whatever $10.
Mine all came with o-rings and studs in them.

I didn't put a pattern in mine, but I spose I could've quite easily.

I think mine took about 1/2 hour to weld in, the fit was pretty good, and the MIG was fast. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Rob,

What is your Wheelbase? How much lift to you have with the front springs? Just curious.

Looks killer.

Yeah, It seems that no matter how hard you try to save a buck, there is always a detail or two that will hit the pocket book. I think we could of welded it faster, i.e. smaller beads, but for some reason didnt.

Mudzer, the front springs are "Rough Country" 4" springs. I need to replace them because they are WAY too stiff now. The wheel base is 120".

Rob,

Your wheels are exactly like mine (different color ofcourse)...

Not a good pic, but only close pic I have...
I had to lay some thick beads as well....Keep it more secure that way...

Didn't you used to roll on 44"s? Why the step down to 40"s?

Anyhow, we need to get together sometime this spring/summer.
Take care.

Re: New pic of Hummer beadlocks and 40\'s

Yeah, we all need to get together some time. Unfortunately, I am leaving for New Mexico tommorrow for 20 days, home for 20 days, then back to Afghanistan for 6 months. I am going to try to get a handful of dudes together for a Tellico run, or at least a URE run between the 20th of Apr and the 12 of May. Got get it broke in a little for a put her to bed for 6 months!!!

Re: New pic of Hummer beadlocks and 40\'s

I guess I did pretty well with mine! Got my wheels and runflats for 200 complete with 0-rings and beadlock nuts. Found a guy on this board selling some centers for 150 (+ 30 shipping) he picked up and never used. I chose to spend the cash to have them modified by someone that had done them before. Greg at 4wdfactory.com cut and welded them for 30 each. So grand total of $500.

I ran the 36 inch hummer tires for a while but finally saved up enough to put my 42's on order yesterday. Got them for 285 each plus FET and tax...

$1812 for 42's and hummer rims.... kind of makes me sick just thinking about it... hopefully i feel better when i get them all mounted up.

Re: New pic of Hummer beadlocks and 40\'s

Dang man. Sorry to hear you're getting shipped back out there.
A good buddy of mine (Lt. in the Army), just got shipped out to Bahgdad for a year /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Best of luck. Take care.
