Well I havent been working on the truck much since I the monte carlo but my parents are really shooting down the whole "supe it up thing". I'm thinking I'm gonna start working on the truck again.

I'm gonna snorkel it since it doesnt need to be a DD.

I also am starting to think I want to remove some more lift. Its 5in with 36's right now. 4in, shackle flip, and zero rates. I'm pretty sure I want to take it down to 2in springs, 2-1/2 version of the shackle flip and just hack into the fenders more.

I was also offered some bushwacker flares for the front so I'm gonna throw them on and cut the fenders back as far as they can go under them.

I need to finish installing my power steering cooler, put in new balljoints (damn advance auto crap), and make a front bumper.

What do you guys think about the whole lift thing?

O yeah and I think it might be time to ditch the wood bed and build something out of metal...

What spring rate should I go with for my front springs?

450 lbs or 345?

Its a 350 not winch or heavy bumper.

345 definitely.

I'll go ahead and bring up a tangent here, where do the leaf spring companies come up with their spring rates? Leaf springs do not have linear rates; i.e. they have a much higher spring rate in compression than they do in droop. This is why leaf sprung suspensions have more droop than compression.

For instance, my front leaves are probably ~500 lbs/in during uptravel and more like 120 in droop (my springs sit flat on the overload at ride height and only the main leaf is tied down in droop).

Ok. I've never really dove into spring rates. Sorta just pulled springs until I was happy. But since I'll have my 4in front laying around I'll have springs to put in if they are too soft.
