Anybody know where I could get a new(not a reman) 7.3 Powerstroke engine for my truck.I'm thinking I will be better off putting some money into my current truck versus spending $60k on a comparible replacement.I tried Ford and they lead me to believe they were remans.

I don't know that you'll find *new* dizzles ... at the least, they are EXPENSIVE. IIRC, you can get crate 6.2L's from GM, maybe even 6.5's, but they're like five or six grand, same as the crate big blocks

The thing is a question of economy of scale ... there are crate smallblocks cheap 'cuz there are SO many trucks (and cars) out there with the 350. There are MANY less with the 6.2, and presumably less diesel Fords than gassers.

That said, if you can find a competent local rebuilder who does diesels (which may be tricky), you'll have more control over the motor and likely spend less than a new one anyway.

Here's where I'm at. A new truck that is equal to what I have(four door 1-ton diesel) is in the 50K+ range, which would mean at least a $500 a month payment. With the way I use a truck that aint happenin.

I could buy a newer used truck but could be buying someone else's problem's.

With mine I at least will know what has been done and what might be wrong with it. I have found some remans for around 7K and some used engines with 150K on em for $1600-$1800.

Mine has 342K on it and as far as I know is in pretty good shape but I am always wondering what is lurking around the corner.

I've heard that remans from Jasper are better than the original 7.3's. They're pricey though.

I'm told their stuff it good. A guy I know is putting a Cummins in his 90 F350 4x4 and is using mounts from Autoworld.com He's using a nv4500 but is retaining the B/W t-case. I would go this route. It's not really that hard. I'm doing a Chevy right now.

I thought of that.I have been looking at Destroked's stuff but not real clear on what all I have to get and how much.

Mine is just 2wd so I'm sure that would make it easier.I know destroked makes the plate to reuse my ZF but dont know about the clutch. It has a new luk clutch/flywheel and I would like to reuse it if possible, but by the time I get ready to put an engine in it might be ready for a clutch.

I am not having any real problems with the engine I have, but with the mileage it has I know it's coming and would like to have a game plan when it get's here.

don't let them sway you....stick with the 7.3! Ford in Ford, Dodge in Dodge, Chevy in Chevy....don't do no inbreeding crap haha

:doah:No kidding hey........

Theres an International in a Ford, Cummins in a Dodge, Isuzu in a Chevy....swap what you want.

autoworld.....I know a guy that used their motor mounts too put a 12v in a '99 F450. good product too. IIRC

A guy at my dept put an early 90s cummins in his old 84 dually and it's pretty sweet. it had big stacks out the bed and as far as I know, encountered only a few problems
