As a school project, my team and I have been researching the feasibility of a new product. Our product is an off-road light that is moveable with controls on the dashboard of the vehicle. The light will be powered by a motor (similar to a mirror motor on cars) and will not require the operator to get out of the vehicle. The light can be attached to the bumper of the vehicle, or wherever the current off-road lights are mounted.

If we were to produce a light like this:

1) Would you have a use for it?

2) Would you consider buying it?

3) What price would you expect or be willing to pay for it?

4) Would your 4x4 buddies consider buying it?

there is already one out similar to your idea, but it must be mounted to the roof. i can't recall the name or who sells it, but i have seen it on trucks in my area.

What brand is the product you are talking about? Thank you for letting me know. This does not spoil my project at all, I would prefer to know about other similar products. Obviously there is a market for this type of product.

Go to any west marine or other marine store and they have just the thing you are talking about.

i prefer mechanical over electrical. i have a roof mount spot light and the side mount, like police cars have.

apparently, i dont have enough use to justify the time to install them :doah:

Yep, any boat parts catalog should have them too. Also many of the service trucks around here have them (bellsouth, cable, etc.) mounted on the roof.

if its going to be electrically-moved, make sure you have a mode that is hands-free and has the light aim left or right depending on which way you are turning... always handy.
