My friend just got this 67 Chevy C30 dually from his late older brother, and it has a newer 350, 4 speed, Eaton rear 5.14 gears. Manual steering and brakes on it, as well as, a flat/dump bed.
It was parked below his house this summer in the timbered draw, and a mouse got into it and either build a nest or chewed on the heater control wires, because as soon as he turned the heater on, smoke and a small electrical fire starting under the dash. He got that put out, and as long as the heater is off, the truck runs and drives fine. I already bought a new black dash pad, black defroster grilles, new black heater control panel, new heater control cables, new brass copper heater core, new heater wiring, new blower motor, new blower motor resistor and relay from Classic Industries for it.
He's wanting it to be a 4WD, so I'm picking up a 76 Chevy lifted 4x4 pickup, that has 78 Chevy crew cab dually K30 4wd axles under it.
I'll be converting it over to power steering and power brakes, with a new power steering gear box, pump, power brake booster, and new master cylinder for disc brake front axle.
I know the front axle spring perches are the same width on the Dana 44 front diff from 67-80, just that the 67-69 Dana 44 was a closed knuckle front axle. I'll have to get the front axle spring hanger conversion kit, shocks and shock mounts, and either stock or 2-3" lift front leaf springs, brake lines, etc.
On the rear, I'll get a couple of new spring perches to weld to the rear axle to get it back to the 40.5" spring perch center measurement, new shocks, brake lines, etc.
It's going to be painted in a forest green metallic paint, and the dump bed will be modified so it looks really nice and not so redneck/ghetto looking. I'll have to fix the right front fender dent, and do the other minor body work it needs in prep for the new paint.
When he drives it, he already has people gawking over it and wanting to buy it, but I told him that he will be severely inundated with people coming up to him, once it's a one-off 1-ton dually 4wd 67 Chevy pickup truck. He said he still won't sell it even then, no matter how much money someone offers him.
I feel it's going to be a long but fun and really rewarding project once it's all completed.
