Wasilla AK,
So , against my better judgement I got on Copart the other day and ended up getting this beauty for 175.00 (plus fees)

It's a 93 6.2/4L80E no actual damage , just needs batteries

I saw one just like that at a government auction here in MA a few years ago--a contractor near my house bought it and uses it as a work van..

Originally it was used as a "paddy wagon" for military police in the Air Force ,according to the specs on the note attached to the windshield..
Thing was like new too--zero rust, had like 15K on it,it had never left the base much,evidently..

Hmmm, a vehicle that looks like it would attract kids if it had a loudspeaker on it and free candy .... might want to rethink the project name - just sayin' .... :D

I could only assume that's the intention. What else could they possible mean?

The G series vans kept a non-turbo 6.5 till the redesign in 97. They made the switch from the 6.2 to the 6.5 in 93. I'm not entirely sure but they might of stayed mechanical injection also. Pretty sure the P series chassis where that way also.

Even though it's 2wd I'd love to find something like that. Would give me a cheaper way to get a standalone 4l80.

A mechanical 6.5 after '93? That would also be oddball.

Vans are interesting, no doubt about it. Both P-series and G-series.

Its been probably a good 10 years since I worked on one of that vintage so I'm not a 100% certain. I am certain of the non-turbo though.

USAF aircraft maintenance "breadvan" used on flight lines to this day to deliver MX personnel, tools and parts to the flight line. Most of these never see more than 30mph in their lifetime, but they live a hard life of being run without warming up and being started by folks that don't know to glow a diesel. They see a lot of new starters and flywheels.

It's not out of the realm of possibility, though, since vans always seem to lag behind trucks/SUVs in getting the latest gear because of their use as utility vehicles. I imagine if these were made as part of a government contract that could be even more likely, to prevent too much changing of parts.

Ugh , so went to pick it up to day and apparently there was a snafu with the auction. And since it didn't meet reserve they are putting it back up to auction next week.

Kinda pissed , this has happened to me almost everytime I buy something from Copart

that sucks, did you get the chance to talk to the seller to find out what they'd take for it? often they'll tell you what their bottom dollar is....
