New project pics

Here's a pic of what the skeleton of the bed looks like. I began as a 97 dodge long bed. I cut it down to 60"x60". It still has 48" between the wheelwells. It uses the dodge front bulkhead and floor. The tube is 1.5" x .095. The skins are 14 gauge sheet metal (mostly scrap). I had to shorten the height about 7" from this pic in order to fit the Jeep top without it sticking 10" over the cab. I had envisioned a fifth-wheel style tailgate.

What would you like to see?

Bringing back a dead thread.

I would like to see more, flex pics and comments on how you like the 113" wheel base on 42's. How's the rear suspension holding up? Would like to see more of how you did the tubing attatchment to the cab.

I know it's about the least technical part of the rig, but I'm curious what you used as inners up front.

Inner shafts? Or fenders? Looks like the fenders are rubber or plastic. Wouldn't be surprised if they were the same thing as the rubber on the top. More pix in his gallery and other threads.

I think he's gone....:doah:

Yeah the inner fenders. It is the only real reason I haven't trimmed more aggressively, I really want to keep an effective inner fender.

I'm in the same boat. UHMW might be a good choice. Thing is, the inner, outer and inner outer all work together to be rigid and hold the whole front of the truck together...It doesn't really seem to me that you can just go hacking away and not have everyhting start flopping all over and falling apart. Especially for me, I live and wheel in the desert, and drive like a racer boy. I'll post up when I come up with something good.
