k5warwagon
1/2 ton status
I haven't given up on the K5 but i just coem across something I couldn't pass up.
Just bought a rolling chassis '87 C-10 cab with all new "gm" front sheet metal and a '79 "wide bottom" bed. The previous owner had already c'ed the rear frame rails and had a narrowed 9" rear with gigantic Mickey Tompson's installed. He had cut the bed wood and trim and was in the process of grafting a fleetside bed's wheel tubs in to widened the already cavernous wheel openings when he changed his mind on the project. He took the narrowed 9"/four link/MT combo and stuck it under a '38 Plymouth.
I got the resulting hulk for $600
.
I figured it was more than that tied up in the front sheetmetal.
I plan on sticking with the widening of the rear wheel wells just not as much as he had planned for the pro-street theme he was going for. I plan on putting a NASCAR style truck arm rear in it complete with jack screws mounted next to the new inner wheel tubs and updating the front suspension and 4-wheel discs. The cab is near perfect except for a slight blemish on the passenger side. It was a manul truck so it will be a stick. I would love for it to end up a good performer on the track like VIR as I am only 1.5 hours away.
I call her "Rosie" as in AC/DC's "Whole Lotta Rosie". Cause she's got a big @ss! Ha!
I gonna start a build thread over on pro-touring.com. If there is any interest I will post the link.
Here's some pic's.
