Hey guys,

I've got a problem which makes me feel quite dumb:

I've got a brand new 6.2 Diesel radiator but I do not know where the low coolant sensor is located and what it looks like

Additionally I do not know where I do have to attach the heater outlet/return hose.

Here's a pic of the radiator:

there are two outlets for the trans cooler

and there are two holes for ???

The hose you can see attached to the radiator at the rad cap is for the overflow tank?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Greetings

Flo

Ok,

actually this question really was kind of dumb ;-)

The return hose has to be connected to the first nipple near the radiator cap. Initially I thought that these nipples are for the transmission cooler but now I know that the trans cooler lines have to be attaced on the left/driver's side.

Here's a pic of the army installation manual and one of my truck, finally, after seven years or so it is going to look like a truck again :woot:

Hey BB, I recently took a radiator out of a 82 diesel truck, and it seems like there were engine oil cooler lines attached to the radiator also? sound right?
I can look in my GM service manual for 85 and maybe find out more if you need.

Hey guys,

thanks for your replies.

Well, I'm pretty much done with the rad issue but I could need some help though

I need to know which connector I need for the coolant sensor in the radiator.

Here's the sensor:

And here are the connectors:

I think I need the one on the right side of the pic but I'm not sure.

It really would be great if someone of you could take a quick look under the hood of your 6.2s and tell me :thumb::thumb:

Where exactly is the coolant sensor on the radiator?

PT197 looks about right just on sight. PT183 looks like a spade connector.

Hey,

according to my manuals it is on the right side (passenger side) just a few inches under the radiator cap.
... well at least I think it should be there :haha:

Sometimes you shouldn't sell or throw away all the old stuff without having had a closer look at it first :dunno:

Anyway,

I just googled following pic and circled it. I really love the Windows 7 snipping tool :D

Mine looks like F. Looks like it presses onto the end of that sensor. The left side as shown in the picture? The outer ring of F slips down over the end of the sensor and covers all the way to the "nut" portion of the sensor.

No, I'm sorry, PT197. The connector on the right in your picture earlier.
