New Ride! 78 GMC. *The build thread that never was?*

you's guys live where it is cold a lot....that's probably one reason why you don't like carburetors...
but what did people do who live in cold areas before EFI ?

and here's one with the trim screws removed from thebed side trim.

I finally drove it up and down the street. The ride is certainly less squishy and more solid. I like the way it feels, but it does transfer a lot more noise and vibration into the cab.

EDIT: Notes to self,

Total for those three pieces, $177 plus shipping. So figure $200.

Those notes are so i can compare what it would cost to have a shop give me new exhaust.

In a quite lack luster update, I have only one remaining dash light working so Iordered up some led bulbs for it. Curious to see how I like them as I have heard mixed reviews.

When I put leds in mine and painted it silver it made for a huge difference.

Yes sir! I'm debating on it as it seems it takes away a little of the greenish glow. I don't now how much I really care though either. I'm thinking. Maybe paint just the plastic, and not paint tye back side of the tin piece.

The first pic was with the plastic cleaned painted silver and all new bulbs. Still couldn't see the gauges. I did buy the brighter cool white led bulbs. They have some that are more yellow like regular bulbs.

Very interesting. I think maybe I'lltry just doing the leds first and see how iI like it/how it looks and go from there. If it's not right I already have some silver spray paint on the shelf anyway.

I painted the plastic on mine silver as well....I just couldn't make myself paint over the blue back of the bezel metal....it casts a blue light on the gauges that would be lost if I painted it silver.

But on the other hand...I love the bright gauges too...:dunno:

Thanks! I just can't wait to get a little further on it. I'm going to be debt free in a couple months so that should speed things up a bit! I really can't wait to get real tires, and the 2" lift. This thing rides seriously like a dump truck! Crazy rough! It has 235/85-16s load range E on it now, and I'm going to go with 285/75-16 load range D's. So with the bigger, softer tires and the ez ride springs, it should be a little more comfortable. The rear suspension is going to get a set of 56s pulled down to only 3 leafs and it will get a set of air bags. With all that, it should get me comfy and still some load carrying capabilities.
