New Ride! 78 GMC. *The build thread that never was?*

I would be the worst one to wheel with. My truck is UBER incapable, and i dont know any good spots anyway. But i do like to go shooting and just be out in the woods!

Welcome to the club. I've been collecting parts for a while to build up my trucks...but not gotten very far as of yet. I did go out in the snow last winter with Big Blue (See picture at left). Big Blue + Chains kept up with locked 35's just fine in the snow. You could probably do something like that... :thumb:

But i do like to go shooting and just be out in the woods!

Let us know if you're ever in the Midwest... :waytogo:

I bet you could surprise yourself with just how capable that truck could be in it's current form. Not that I'd take it wheeling. It's too nice to bash on the trees.

Oh i have wheeled a truck virtually identical to this one. My first truck. And it was capable for what it was. But i did end up putting a couple decent dents in it. Thats when i learned, i personally dont want to "wheel" a fullsize truck. Mudding and stuff is cool, but not trails.

That truck,

On the way to wheeling,

Truck looks awesome man. New tires look great. Your 1980(?) truck looks like it was fun too.

Thanks man! But that's not necessary. As I recall you are in Oregon city right? Depending on where that's about a half hour drive. And more expensive in gas than just taking it to the coin op place. I'm letting a friend use it this weekend on hot rod run we're going on cause he doesn't have a hot rod. So I'm going to make him wash it before we go!

Why can't you 2-tone it? It's your truck, do whatever you want. For what it's worth, my '83 came 2-toned. The remains of the factory 2-tone paint job are visible in the first pic from my thread (http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=313228).

And I'm not sure whether it counts as 2-tone, but my '84 has a bottom stripe on it (http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=313869).

So 2-tone isn't unreasonable at all, nor will you be the only 2-tone truck around. Do whatever pleases your taste. :waytogo:

No one wants to be my friend up here :(:pimp::haha:

LOL! Well you can certainly come up any time and see whatever it is im goofing off with at the moment! The trouble is, i work swing, and i work 10hr days every day. I have sat/sun off about half the time. So figuring time to actually hang out is the tough part. During the week im only free in the mornings obviously, from about 9:30am-12:30pm. Probably about this time next year i'll be on day shift tho! Then i will be free in the afternoons/evenings!

Ended up being 4400ish pounds of water by my calculations. The bump stops, as you can see, where nearly touching! I let it all out yesterday and thats what caused the pond i was parked in in some of those pics.
