New Ride! 78 GMC. *The build thread that never was?*

I still stand by the fact that this is one of, is not the, best looking truck I've seen in quite along time.
:thumb:

Also, while not for everybody, I still think that for a healthy SBC sounds best with large diameter straight pipes out the back.

Just lemme know when I should rip my axle apart...

Things have gone wildly not to plan. As they tend to it seems... With the house purchase, i really cant justify A) spending the money on trucks and B) commiting to the time of doing a gear swap. At this point, im just hoping to be able toget back to trucks by mid summer. My birthday is in september. And what im hoping for is that i will have ALL of the house work done by then and have gotten started on the 78 by then so that i can plead to the wife to let me spend a ton of money on the 78 for my birthday. We'll see how it goes, but as of now, thats my plan.

Thanks! It seems to be a truck that ewveryone really likes. And im not going to deny that that exhaust would sound awesome! And theat the exhaust that is on the truck now does sound awesome! I just dont like it all the time on the truck that im driving. I like to hear that exhaust on a truck driving by, but not on my truck.

Sounds like what you need to do is a electric cutout. That way it's nice to cruise in but you can still pick up girls when your feeling froggy!

It's a good thought, but I think I'll be quite satisfied with my quiet duals.

I shouldn't complain because when it comes down to it, I'm extremely fortunate. But, my wife and I were just discussing how we should have enough money soon for the new kitchen and floors in the new house. Which will likely run in the neighborhood of $17k by the time it's all said and done... Not very expensive for a kitchen and floors, but still a ton of dough considering I think with about half that money, I could get the 78 DONE. Oh well.

My goal goes like this, get all the work done on the house by early/mid summer. Enjoy summer with nothing to do. Then, when my birthday rolls around in September, tell the wife it's my turn with the money. And that for my birthday, I want to get the 78 done. When she says yes, I'll buy stuff and get it done over winter and hopefully have it done in time to enjoy next summer! We'll see. Plans are great, but....

Dreamer! :D

If I was you I would just be
happy you can drive it the way it is...its a nice truck now.

Be fortunate that you don't have to sell it, fixing it up latter is ok too.

When should have been if...

And yes I love the truck as it is. It's just my vision for it and how long I have been putting it on the back burner but still dreaming of it done has made it difficult to stop imagining the way it's going to turn out!

This would be a sweet little buddy to the 78!

I'm seriously jealous of all you guys and your trucks out there. I'm seriously debating taking a long weekend, flying out with like 3500 in my pocket, and road tripping back.

Just let us know and we will help you line up the truck :D You just have to promise you will never drive it on a salted winter road.

Been really thinking the same thing :deal:

Find a truck, i'll go buy it for you and store it at my house and even pick you up from the air port!

Yeah...I would also be interested in such a deal. But it came too late; I already have my truck project lined up for the next little while...
