Well I can't post or reply anywhere but in there garage so I'm putting this here.
So I love my 85 4Runner but the time has come that I need a bigger rig. My trusty rusty Toyota has always been there for me but I need something a little more powerful than a 116 hp 4 banger to tow my atv trailer when I go hunting. So check out my CL score.
It's an 1981 K5. It has a 4 speed Saginaw transmission with granny low. It was a 350 when it was new but PO bought it with a 454 in it!! Yup that's right 454 baby. The motor has about 15,000 miles sense it was rebuilt by Western engine in Denver. It runs like a top but it's time for a tuneup. The tires are at about 70% and nice after market rims. I know it's not the best looking vehicle out there but it's far from the worst. The interior is about 70-75% as far as looks. Now there is the normal cancer spots on it like every old Blazer out there.
Upgrades to come.:smokin:
1. LIFT IT!!!
2. 35's
3. big ugly bumper and winch "already have from brothers old suburban"

Bennett, Co huh? I live in green valley ranch, aurora. Right down the road.... We head to lulus in Watkins for beers sometimes. Welcome aboard.

welcome, good start...

holy giant push bar! :haha:

btw, that's an SM465 trans ya got...

lol The 454 came out of an 82 1 ton but I'm told the sm465 is original.

Yep they came with them but it certainly doesnt stop it from being way over rated GVWR wise for a 1/2 ton, or a 3/4 ton. In fact its actually rated for way more than a 1 ton also. They used that damn trans in old school buses, kodiaks/topkicks, etc. The thing is a tank, they just didnt have any other 4wd stick shift options then.

it just unfortunately, shift's like a dump truck....

yup, very anemic heads and cam for sure.. potential is there, just needs coin/*coughheadscough* thrown at it...

yeah, it's small consolation when the heads breathe like an asthmatic granny... :doah:

figure you might be in the 225 range with a cam.. BB torque helps ya feel a bit more manly tho.. :woot: ;)

you can make up for motor somewhat with gearing too.. which going up in tire is needed anyway...

What casting are the heads? The downside to that question is that you have to remove the valve covers. Post some more pictures. Does it have AC?
