I just finished mounting my new beard seats and tuffy console. Sure takes alot of the bumps out from the bench I had:D. Too bad they didnt come in b4 BB though. The only issue I have now is getting out is a bit more of a pain because of the seat boulster.!s?
Now I see a need for a tilt wheel. I know I got some research to do but has anyone converted to a tilt wheel? Any drawback to doing this?
Now to go burn a hour searchin and reading.

Now your rifles going to hit you in the head. Hope you are going to get at least 4 point belts. Looks good. Very similar to mine. Actually damn close. Awsome. You'll love that Tuffy box too.

yea the rifle rack is now called the suicide rack. ohwell atleast i can hang my hat on it still. the top one will still barely work without a passenger:crazy:.
I was thinking of belts but not sure yet. the stock ones seem fine at the moment. Only issue is I sit a bit higher and the wheel to leg clearance isnt great. I was thinking tilt wheel but saw maybe just a steering wheel change might be in order.

looks sweet! The tilt colum swap is easy provideing you can find a good one.

Just unbolt the hanger under the colum, then some little firewall bolts unplug all the wires, undo the steering shaft. Put the new one in. all the wires should plug in the same. Now the only problem is "did you get a key with the new colum?" Swapping out the IGN. tumbler is a little more involved.

Question/Statement: When I installed my seats I basically had to fab up my seat mounts because otherwise if used the ones PRP sold they would have put the steering wheel in my lap further down and my head just above the top of the roll cage. How did you mount your seats. If you like I've got pics of my mounting brackets and I can show you what I did if it will help lower the seat instead of doing a colum (sp). I use my cage to help lift me up and over the boulsters so you might look at getting a cage for safety and ease of entry and exit too or at least a sturdy grip handle up and to the left of your head. Nice upgrade though.

Looking good, Rob! :thumb:

My seat works great with the factory seat belt. Held me in good when I flopped the truck. :doah: It just goes across the top of the side bolsters.

As far as getting in and out, I've found that it works best to just slide the seat all the way back to get in and out. But I suppose that won't work well in a pickup cab.

The only thing to watch with a tilt column is make sure you find one that is nice and tight. Although they can be tightened back up, there's a thread somewhere here about it, I think in the tech article section maybe. Also make sure not to use the steering wheel to pull yourself in and out because that will lead to it getting all sloppy again pretty quick.

:bow:those seats look badass, I like tuffy console too. How are they comfort wise for long use? I am getting the urge to throw some nice seats in my rig, but its my DD and it sees some trips time to time.

I've ridden in mine for several 6hr road trips and haven't have any comfort issues.

The biggest pain might be getting in and out of them a lot. At least until you get a method to it. PRP makes a Daily Driver seat with lower leg bolsters. That's what I got for the wife, but I haven't installed it yet.

well I mounted them on some angle iron welded to a 1" box tube frame. I built a square frame out of the box tube with tabs to bolt to the fatory location. then on top of the cage I welded angle iron to bolt the seats and console to. pretty basic and i thought I wouldnt be that much higher. Its really not that bad. Ive already got a technique down for getiing out. kinda sliding out ass first. getting in is no problem.
Ive only had em 2 days so cant say how comfy they are on long trips yet but i would guess they would be great. I got the xtra tall xtra wide w/ larger headrest. they feel great. Kinda makes me feel like im bolted to the frame compared to the bench where i would slide all around and bounce up and down.
I think I might try a 15" steering wheel and see what that does for me b4 I go pull a tilt column.
One other draw back is I put a 1/4" tear in the vinyle side somehow. Not sure If i should call em up and say shipping did it or just live with it. Its not that bad now but the seats took 2 months to get and would hate to wait for another. Maybe some black duct tape will work.:D

Hey scott glad you like em. sure wish I had em a month ago though. 18hr road trip would have been alot nicer.

I put beards in my cucv and used corbeau brackets. They sit up a lot higher so I went with a small cheap grant wheel from Advance and put a quick release on it, which makes it alot eaiser to get in. When I put in a cage I will lower them and inch or two for more leg clearance, but I gained alot of visibilty with the corbeau mounts.

Brackets are almost identical to what I did. Looks like your floors are a bit higher to start with than on my '72 k5 though. as for the tear, go to an auto apolstry (sp) shop and they can steer you to a good patch kit that either glues patches or heats patches on so it looks good and won't tear anymore.

Mine are very comfy. I mounted mine, pics of PRP seats in blue k5 above, so they are canted/reclined back a bit more than normal. I've done about 3 hours in them and they were great. I'm 6'1' and 250lbs and got the wide Daily drivers and I fit great with no problems. IMO, if you have to spend a bit more money on your rig to do an upgrade spend in on comfort and safety with PRP seats or any higher end brand. One new seat that is out now that was not available when I bought my was the new SmittyBuilt reclining seats similar to the (fock I forgot the name) other brand that is reclining without the $520/each price tag.
