Hi All,

I have a set of really nice seats out of an 01 Silverado that I am installing in my 75 Blazer.

So far I have noticed that even with the seats all the way back I am still pretty close to the wheel.

I seem to have 3 options.

1. Shorten the Steering Column
2. Cut Holes just behind the seats so that I can mount them further back
3. Get Smaller seats

I like my new seats so option 3 for me is a last resort but I wanted to see what others out there were doing?

Any opinions or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

moving the seats back is the obvious choice...

option 2 for sure. those are nice seats so i'd hold onto them. seat bracket fabrication can always be made easy(or easier) with 1/8" thick aluminum stock from home depot, angle grinder, a good drill bit and some grade 8 hardware...

I put seats like that in my truck too, it's a K5 with the flat floor.

I'm 6'2" and have no issue with where the seats are.

What kind of truck do you have? If it's a pickup, burb, or early 2nd gen K5 there may be some placement issues cause those floors are different.

edit: just reread your post. You have an early 2nd gen K5 where the floor is raised just behind the stock seat location. I would suggest, relief cut and re-fab the floor behind the seats so you can move them back.

I put "ciustom" buckets in my '77 GMC,and soon discovered the stock steering wheel was too big,my legs barely fit under it!--and since the seats were already touching the rear of the cab,I couldn't move them back more.....a quick trip to the junkyard solved that dilema quickly,I put a steering wheel off a Cavalier on it..it matched up with the steering colum perfect and everything worked normally,(directionals,ect)..most GM and Fords used the same size splines and colum ,so your possibilities for a swap is practically unlimited..

I put the same seats in my 76. I beleive mid year 77 is when GM put the footwell in the rear. Mine are moved all the way back...I'm just shy of 6' and with the seat slid all the way back I fit perfect and the wife can slide it forward so she reaches the pedal. you can kinda see in this pic
