84 K5 with 6in lift –

Had a new steering box installed – now it steers more to the right side than the left. Not by too much more…..but you can see the difference. I search the other day and found something….now I can’t find it.

Anyway…does anyone know how to correct?

How much more. Did you count your turns L to R? Or is this just a you can turn sharper one way thing?

Crossover or push pull steering?

I just tried it out and counted..... I have almost 1/2 more turn to the right side.

I think I just have standard crossover

Push-pull steering is stock, crossover is aftermarket.

Who replaced the box? Is the steering wheel straight? If it is, was the draglink adjusted to get the wheel straight or did he/she take off the steering wheel and move it a few splines? (I know that you usually can't do that without messing with some stuff, but still).

Sounds like your draglink length needs to be adjusted.

the steering wheel was off by about the same amount - now that I think about it. I personally took the steering wheel off and got that straight. So yes, the wheel is straight now...but wasnt after we installed the new box.

Like Chris said, It sounds like your draglink needs some adjustment.
First you should make sure your steering box is centered, by counting turns on the steering wheel.
Then adjust the draglink so it fits when the wheels are pointing straight ahead.

To adjust drag link (if needed), loosen clamps, drive the vehicle back and forth in a straight line. This will
center the steering box. Turn drag link, adjusting sleeve until steering wheel is straight, then tighten the
clamp nuts. Recheck all hardware after approximately 50 miles, and periodically there after. Cross bolt on
pitman arm must be tight.

That doesn't work if the steering wheel has been moved on the shaft,
which it has been in this case.

The only good way to center the box is by counting turns from left to right, and place it in the middle.
If the steering wheel isn't straight then, remove it and adjust it on the splines.

oh he repositioned the steering wheel...that case I would center the steering box then take the steering wheel off again and position it correctly

Your draglink needs to be adjusted. Knowing that you've already removed and repositioned your steering wheel here are the steps you need to take in order to get EVERYTHING back as it should be.

1) Drive vehicle forward a few feet (without your hands on the steering wheel so that the wheels will "self center")

2) Remove draglink from pitman arm

3) Turn steering wheel from left to right while counting the turns then move it back half as many to center the steering box

4) Now adjust the draglink until you are able to bolt it back onto the pitman arm

5) Now you can remove the steering wheel and reposition it correctly so that the blinker will return normal as it should.

6) Now you can fine tune the steering wheel with the draglink adjustment if so needed.
