Anyone out there have any good leads or advice looking for a new steering column and wheel needs a full replacement for a 1984 Chevy k5 Blazer manual transmission

I think that the best and cheapest is to repair what you have. The aftermarket columns are a good amount of money and I don't know what length they are.
If you have a tilt column in yours, those are rather rare and can fetch a good price when in good shape. The non-tilt columns are easier to repair.

What problems does it have?

The turn signal switch came loose and the key won't push the far enough to start the car so I have to use a wrench to push the rod into the ignition module plus it's casing is all torn up from previous owners looks like I'll just be doing a rebuild for that and I was thinking of gutting it out and using switches on the dash to start the car and operate the blinkers and wipers what do you think rebuild or gut and add switches and it's not a tilting column

I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure without tearing it apart or seeing it myself. The non-tilt columns are a little more common so maybe you can find a good used one somewhere. You could use one from an automatic transmission truck and leave the lever off, if you don't mind that look. You would not have the safety release at the key anymore.
