Okay my family decided to buy me a new stereo since I am always complaing about the factory unit . Well I have an 83 with the shafts . I don't want to cut the dash so I need some ideas for the new unit . I had a CD player and it died plus I had to stop to load it so they got one with a CD player in it .They also bought some sort of sleeve to mount it . I need some ideas of how to mount this and where with out ruining the originality of the rig .I love a CD palyer and I had the portables that played though the cassette deck and wanted to get away from that . Thanks for any help !!!

To get that new head unit in you have with the "sleeve" you going to have to do a little cutting.

get a dash bezel from a 90-91 as thay were factory NON shaft knob style radio. thay went to the newer square like you have now. then cut the back side and add the newer dash bezel and look factory. :thumb:

you have pic #3

you dont wana do pic #1 cut n chop

but like i said 90-91 blazer/suburban/old body pickup had this pic #2 looks a little bit crappy install. but best pic i could find on short notice.

Got mine set up similar to what sweetK30 mentioned, it's an 89, and it fits fine, looks original / factory to a degree. I mean there is no "extra cutting" involved this way, beyond to fit the stereo in, the stereo face plate and trim ring cover the opening. I would suggest it.

My buddy had his mounted inside the center console. You have to open the lid to do anything but you wouldn't know there was an aftermarket radio if you peeked in the window, or if anyone else peeked in.

if you do this get a factory radio delete plate thats 1 bolt to cover the factory hole in the dash.

all the m-series blazers/trucks had no radios . i have 1 in my truck. left side of the pic.
