We just installed the new style F♀rd shock towers on B_to_C's '79 with manual clutch linkage. In researching the mod, I came across some questions about clearance for the clutch linkage, so I wanted to post some pictures in case it will help others in the future.

Clutch pedal depressed:

The tower is cut up to the center embossed area. When the pedal is fully depressed, it just barely taps the bracket but doesn't stop movement.

IIRC, as you are looking at the bracket the far left bolt was the hole for the bottom rivet on the old shock bracket. The other 2 were done by positioning the shock so that with the weight of the truck on the suspension there was 6" of shock exposed on a 12.5" travel shock.

They were purchased from fordparts.com, part number: F81Z-18183-AA

Hmmm...that looks familiar! I posted in another thread too just to help out the guy who hasn't read this one...How are you diggin on those edelbrock shocks? I am very happy with mine, especially coming from the crap I had before.

I don't know if he'll know the difference feel any difference because we changed so much at one time. Namely new springs up front and shackle flip in the rear.
