Since I got my blazer up and running the tranny has been squealing until it gets warm. It's new turbo 400 from TCI. It sounds like a belt squeal on the motor but it's definitely coming from the tranny. It shifts and drives fine, no issues there. Is it just the new tranny getting broken in or is it something more I should be worried about?

Edit: It only squeals under load... when I hit the gas in drive or reverse but not in park.

I am not an expert on th400 but I know there is a band adjustment that might be too tight or too lose?:dunno:

I just rebuilt a t400. There's no band adjustment that i saw since the band is held by the case. That sounds like a pump issue to me it doesn't take much to damage a pump if the torque converter wasn't seated right. If I am wrong about the band please explain as i just graduated from a tech school. Oh i have a really good trans rebuild file i could forward if any body's interested.:thumb:

I think this is the most likely scenario. I didn't have much of a gap between the flexplate and TC when I installed it. I think I'll just pull the tranny. Is replacing the pump something a normal person can do or is it better to just take it to a tranny shop?

You could do it. Pm me your email and il forward you the t400 file i have same one they used at school.

Possible converter fin contact or bearing, could even be a loose filter or leaking filter neck. The fact that it will only do this cold makes me think you should have a look at the filter first. Use two o-rings at the filter neck to case contact point.

Stock, the band is not adjustable but there are after market ones and I think TCI uses them.
But now that someone mentioned damage during installation it's moreikely

TCI has on their website that there is no band adjustment. I'm pretty sure I ****ed it up on install. There was no clearance between the flywheel and TC. Live and learn.
