New To Me K5 - What Suspension?

So the major cause for concern is the block making contact with something and coming loose?

The larger concern is that the spring perch appears to have been cut. The spring perch normally extends the full width of the lift block from front to back. Without that spring perch in one piece there is a concern that the axle does not have sufficient support to keep it from twisting under the lift block.

I would like to see a better picture of your spring perch so that we can all make a more informed decision about the safety of your rear axle.

Here is a picture that I applied my rudimentary paint stills to in order to show you what a normal spring perch looks like. See the red circle? Your spring perch should extend all the way back (or close to) to the end of the lift block like this picture.

Oh okay, thank you for the pic. Not sure why someone would hack the perch. Truck is at the shop waiting on new tires. I'll definitely go take some more pics. This is quite concerning.

It's not an "addiction" !!!!
I bought my 87 K5 to be a daily, all around driver....yeah, right.
It turned out to be a lemon....sooooooooooooooo, I bought a rebuilt 350, rebuilt 700R4, replaced the np208 with a np241, new brakes all around, 4" Tought Country all spring lift, 2 new 6 lug rims, 2 used 6 lug rims, all new sensors for TBI, regeared the rearend from 3:42 to 4:10 (for the experience), decided to go 1 ton so I bought a low mile Dana 60 w/trac lock posi, NOS 14bff from the early 80's w/detroit locker, and the latest gift was the disc brake conversion kit for the 14bff.....still need to get the 8 lug rims and 35's. Then I get to enlarge the garage door opening to get it out:haha:
I hope the wife don't find out....I just tell her that's the way it was when I bought it. :D

nice find on that truck.body looks pretty clean.those def look like rancho springs and shocks.i have the same 4 inch lift in front.3 leafs and 300 psi spring rate i believe they are.i replaced the rear blocks with springs after i broke the rear blocks out.looks like your rear spring perches are completely gone.i replaced mine with i believe 3 in diameter 2.5 inch wide perches.but that was on a 12 bolt.only cost me a hundred bucks for the perches and the shop to weld them on for me.you definitely need new ones.

Welcome to the board and to the addiction. Most likely elrancho lift. Definately somethin is up with your rear perches. Can you take a couple more pics of the perches, just curious what is up.
Nice looking rig !!

I'm not sure the perches have been cut, but of them appears to be missing entirely! Check out the third pic from the bottom...
