I think I've asked this before :dunno: But how hard is it to swap a 75 ish front clip on to an 88  I REALLY wanna do this on my burb. I have to change front fenders and paint it anyway so I figured I'd get what I want done at the same time.

Someone directed me to the home page write up before I think, but its for an old to new swap. I got some info off there, but need a little more.

Has anyone done this?

its easier then going the other way, wipers is really the only hang up . of course your battery boxes and A/C compnents will take some modding. it can be done in a week end.

oh the wiring for the headlight will need a little figuring if you have dual headlights.

I wouldn't do it, the front clip wont match the interior and that always bugged me looks half assed. kinda like when guys put IFS stepside beds on 72 an older trucks .

x2 front clip forward all parts . and wiper parts.

if quad light then just pair up the grounds and take eatra wire per side for high to new 3rd position on single light.

i prefer quad lights for more high beam light option. as there is not as much for round .

might have to go short radiator also if you have the tall one now.

 the headlights thing is something I hadnt thought of. I could replace them with the newer ones that take modern replacement bulbs. that'd give me some good lighting options. as for the interior style matching the fenders...... I dont even think I'D notice that:haha: I didnt realize that it was that different actually. never thought about it:dunno: I just like the lines of the old fenders better and have ALWAYS been a round eye fan on EVERY vehicle. I got how I want it to look with paint and everything in my head... and I just keep thinkin the older front would look better. It's the grille thats getting me:confused: Maybe I should think of fabbin my own grille for the clip i got....?

With round lights even maybe:thinking:

for the wipers.. would I have to get a whole new drive assembly for them or just new arms?

On the home page, under technical articles, there is a good write up that someone did a few years back.

uld think it would be done MORE often:rolleyes: everybody on here seems to like the older fronts:dunno: And most the guys I know around here do too. I was wanting an older one before I got this. but this one fell in my lap and I wasnt missing out on the deal:waytogo:

I thought I read somewhere that the 73-80 core support mounting holes are a little different and will not mount up right on the newer 81-up frame horns. :dunno:

I may be 100% wrong but I'm interested in this too so you need to do a write-up if you do this.

Its a bolt up affair. I plan on doing the same thing one day! I want to get a 89-91 burb with tan interior, and then do a 73 front clip, and paint the whole thing the sunset gold with white stripe. Just like chief broady is doing.

the hurdle in my area will be finding the clip:confused: I may have to peice everything together and look for some of it new:dunno: most dont stay rust free around here for long
